Basic fertility treatments

For women with irregular ovulation, basic intervention may be all it takes to get pregnant. Problems with ovulation are the leading cause of female infertility. Fortunately, most women respond well to fertility medications to induce ovulation.

To boost your odds of getting pregnant, we can pair ovulation medications with intrauterine insemination, or IUI. With IUI, a fertility specialist uses a thin catheter to place washed and prepared sperm directly into the uterus to coincide with ovulation.

Other basic fertility treatments include reproductive surgery to reverse anatomical issues like blocked tubes, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. Dr. McKinney is fellowship trained in minimally invasive fertility surgery.

Occasionally, fertility testing will reveal infection, and medications can alleviate the problem. Baseline fertility treatments include:

  • IUI, intrauterine insemination
  • Ovulation induction with Clomid, an oral fertility medication
  • Injectable fertility medications with IUI
  • Fertility surgery

Advanced fertility treatment

You likely know that in vitro fertilization revolutionized reproductive medicine with the birth of Baby Louise in 1978. Since then, an estimated one million babies have come into the world with the help of IVF. The advanced reproductive technology of in vitro removes the chance that egg and sperm will not meet.

Will you need IVF?
Only a fraction of our patients require advanced fertility treatment, but it is available and incredibly effective for those who do.

The IVF lab at Tulsa Fertility Center takes what we can accomplish with IVF to the next level. Fertility Laboratory Director J. Kevin Thibodeaux, Ph.D is known nationwide for his leading edge infertility treatment services:

Fertility preservation involves an abbreviated cycle of IVF

You may be a candidate for fertility preservation to retrieve and cryopreserve eggs, sperm or embryos if you are:

  1. concerned with waiting too long to get pregnant or
  2. preparing to undergo cancer treatment.
